Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) Initial Training Course
Course Details
The EEHA initial training course provides licensed electricians with the skills and knowledge to work on electrical equipment in hazardous areas, for the control and monitoring of plant and processes in hazardous areas for the coal, gas and dust industries. This includes undertaking work that meets requirements of AS/NZS 60079.14 and AS/NZS 60079.17.
The course will provide accreditation to undertake electrical work in a hazardous area and aligns to the requirements outlined in AS/NZS 4761 Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas (EEHA).
Our facilities, including up to date and comprehensive practical boards, allows course participants to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to functioning hazardous area equipment.
Course Location
Our training centre is located near Newcastle, NSW, centrally located to Maitland, Central Coast and the Hunter Valley coalfields. We can also train at your site, any state in Australia. Ask us for a quote. (Ask about our wholesale bulk rates for courses at your site).
Duration/Dates

Pre-Requisites
- UEE30811 Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent
- Students must be existing industry employees, working as a licensed electrician
- 3 – 6 months on the job industry experience prior to training
- Provide a copy of their current electrical industry license
- Must be over the age of 18 years
Course Content
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- undertake work that meets requirements of AS/NZS 60079.14 and AS/NZS 60079.17
- read Ex rated equipment name plates and Certificates of Conformity
- install, test, maintain and inspect Ex equipment
Assessment
Students will be provided with Assessment Workbooks outlining the assessment requirements, and tasks to be completed.
Assessment tasks include:
- question and answer activities
- measurements and calculations
- simulations of practical work on Ex rated equipment
Outcomes
Successful participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
