Course Details

The EEHA refresher course provides licensed electricians with the skills and knowledge to work on electrical equipment in hazardous areas, for the control and monitoring of plant and processes in hazardous areas for the coal, gas and dust industries. This includes undertaking work that meets requirements of AS/NZS 60079.14 and AS/NZS 60079.17.

In accordance with the AS/NZS 60079.14 for continuing education + AS/NZS 2290.1:2014, Verico Training Services recommends that the EEHA competencies are refreshed every 2-3 years.

The course will provide accreditation to undertake electrical work in a hazardous area and aligns to the requirements outlined in AS/NZS 4761 Competencies for working with electrical equipment for hazardous areas (EEHA).

Remote and by Application

No classroom attendance is required.


  • Hold a Statement of Attainment for relevant EEHA units or a Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical (UEE42611)
  • Be existing industry employees working as licensed electricians
  • Provide a copy of their current electrical industry license
  • Must be over the age of 18 years

Course Content

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • undertake work that meets requirements of AS/NZS 60079.14 and AS/NZS 60079.17
  • read Ex rated equipment name plates and Certificates of Conformity
  • install, test, maintain and inspect Ex equipment


Students will be provided with Refresher Application Kits that include detailed instructions outlining the evidence requirements, and tasks to be completed.

Assessment tasks include:

  • question and answer activities
  • workplace log book
  • telephone interview with assessor


Successful participants will be given a Refresher Certificate. This certificate should be coupled with the participant’s Statement of Attainment as evidence that refresher training has been undertaken..
